Export Prize 2013 – Jury honours the
International Strategy of the Railway
and Logistics Experts

The President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Frankfurt, Prof. Dr. Mathias Müller awarded the Hessen Export Prize 2013 to the Railway and Logistics Experts, Railistics GmbH. The company was honoured in the category ‘International Service and Consulting’ (Service und Beratung International) for its international Market Development Strategy.

The Hessen Export Prize is awarded in three categories by the ten Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Hessen, the Hessen Chamber of Crafts (Handwerkskammern) and the Federal Land of Hessen.

”The shortlisted companies operate under a clear strategy and goal orientated vision and together, from many single components, develop an individual success story” explained member of the jury, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Feldmeier.

Railistics appoints Professor Lademann to its Advisory Board
Professor Dr.-Ing. Frank Lademann, railway expert at the Technical University of Central Hessen (THM) was appointed to the Board of Railistics GmbH of Wiesbaden and Dessau on 1st October. With his experience from previous planning and advisory activities, his wide ranging business activities and long-standing involvement in the Association of German Railway Engineers (VDEI) he will support the future development of Railistics GmbH. For THM he will intensify the integration of theory and practice.

Frank Lademann is responsible for the rail systems and traffic engineering department within the Civil Engineering Department of THM. THM with locations in Giessen, Friedberg and Wetzlar is currently one of the largest universities in Germany with nearly 14,000 students.
Frank Lademann studied civil engineering with the specialization rail, road and traffic engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt. He then worked for a large engineering firm in Frankfurt, before returning as a research assistant to TH Darmstadt and completing his doctorate. His dissertation dealt with the topic “Evaluation of intersections on single-track S- Bahn lines ". After another 5 years in an engineering office, he moved to the University of Applied Sciences Giessen-Friedberg (today THM) in 2004.

Heiko Ifland moves to Railistics

Railistics strengthens its competence in the fields of intermodal and rail operations. The former Rail Operations Officer (ROO) at Lokomotion, Heiko Ifland, has, since 1 October 2012, augmented the team in Wiesbaden.
Heiko Ifland began his career in Kombiverkehr in Frankfurt after studying traffic engineering at the Verkershochschule Dresden. There he was responsible for the development and support of new train products for, among others, terminals and agencies, particularly in international traffic, and for the development of Kombiverkehrs own railway undertaking. In 2000 he moved to Lokomotion as ROO and was from the beginning, partly responsible for developing the company from a project based to a safe, reliable and economic railway company focused on transalpine freight traffic. The Railistics team are very pleased to welcome Heiko Ifland.

Schienenverkehrs in der Euregio

Projekt »Via Avantis«

Das Projekt »Via Avantis« von Aachen Hauptbahnhof über Aachen-West zum Gewerbegebiet Avantis und weiter über die Parkstad Limburg nach Maastricht wird vom AVV/NVR, der Parkstad Limburg, der Stadt Aachen und der Provinz Limburg getragen. Kernstücke des Projekts »Via Avantis« sind eine rund 5 km lange neue Schienenstrecke zwischen Aachen-Vetschau und Kerkrade-Spekholzerheide sowie die zusätzlichen Haltepunkte Aachen-Richterich, Gewerbegebiet Avantis und Spekholzerheide. Im Endzustand sollen über die neue Verbindung die Zentren Aachen, Parkstad Limburg (Kerkrade, Heerlen und Landgraaf), Valkenburg und Maastricht direkt und umsteigefrei durch moderne Züge miteinander verbunden werden.

Nachdem die grundsätzliche Machbarkeit bereits nachgewiesen wurde, zeigt nun die Firma Railistics aus Wiesbaden im Rahmen einer betriebstechnischen Untersuchung und einer Trassenuntersuchung den Weg für die weiteren Planungsschritte zur Umsetzung der neuen Verbindung auf.

Mit ihrem großen Erreichbarkeitspotenzial ist diese neue Verbindung für den Wissens- und Technologiestandort Avantis ein wesentlicher Standortfaktor. Viele der an einer dortigen Ansiedlung interessierten Unternehmen haben bereits ihre Standortentscheidung von der Umsetzung der geplanten Schienenerschließung abhängig gemacht. Insofern ist mit dem Vorliegen der betriebstechnischen Untersuchung ein weiterer wichtiger Meilenstein erreicht worden.

Dr. Joachim Koch takes
a position at Railistics

Since 01.Septenber 2008 the renowned consultant for logistical and transport topics Dr. Joachim Koch supports the management board of the international consultancy Railistics GmbH in Wiesbaden. The main focuses of his consulting activities are rail freight transport, infrastructure development and the development of logistical estates.
In previous years Dr. Koch implemented international transport and logistic concepts and was responsible for establishing logistical estates and their infrastructural connexion to the Russian Federation. In addition to his consulting activities Dr. Koch is a university teacher at German and Russian universities and is a member of numerous committees and institutions.
With the commitment of Dr. Joachim Koch Railistics is expanding its own activities in this consulting segment.
